A door opened onto daily terror. The Carabinieri intervened and found a 60-year-old woman with a mouth full of blood. Her husband, drunk, accused her even in front of the officers. An ordeal of unreported violence, broken bones, and humiliation, was finally put to an end.
Ercolano (NA) – A door opens onto silence and blood. This is the chilling scene that the Carabinieri of the Ercolano station, supported by their colleagues from the Portici station, encountered last night around 10:00 PM in a home in the town center. The person who opened the door was a 60-year-old woman, unable to speak. Not by choice, but because her mouth was a mask of blood. On the floor, more red marks testified to blind and brutal violence.
In the background, a man's screams don't subside even in the face of uniforms. It's her husband, a 63-year-old already known to the police, clearly intoxicated. The intervention, triggered by a report to 112 for a "family dispute," uncovered a domestic hell that had been raging for years.
A daily ordeal made of beatings and silences
While the soldiers blocked the man, preventing him from attacking his wife again, the victim and her three adult children, who were also present, found the courage to tell their story.
Not an isolated episode, but a "routine".

The final straw last night was the attack on one of her children. The mother stepped in to defend him, and the 63-year-old's fury was unleashed entirely on her, with insults like "dirty" and "bad boy" raining down blows.
Hidden wounds and imposed silence
The woman's story revealed a past of untold suffering. The beatings had landed her in the emergency room several times: fractured wrists, head injuries from being violently smashed against the headboard of the bed. Extremely serious injuries, never reported. Her husband, in fact, always accompanied her to the hospital, not to care for her, but to ensure that silence reigned supreme, that she reported trivial domestic incidents to the doctors.
The intervention of the Carabinieri, who were already monitoring the family unit deemed "at risk," broke this cycle of terror. The 63-year-old was arrested and transferred to prison, putting an end, at least for now, to the nightmare of an entire family.

This article is very shocking and makes you think about how many similar situations exist. It's sad to think that there are people who suffer in silence and don't report the violence they've suffered. We hope the woman can now receive the support she needs.
