An earthquake was felt this afternoon, around 2:40 PM, in the Avellino area and several surrounding municipalities. According to the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), the magnitude of the quake—still under review—is between 3.4 and 3.9.
The earthquake was clearly felt by the population, both in the central districts of the capital and in the more peripheral areas.
Numerous reports were received on social media and to local authorities: many residents reported seeing lamps and furniture swaying, while others took to the streets as a precaution.
