Frignano – A 30-year-old local man, with a criminal record that already makes him a "regular guest" in the Carabinieri archives, ended up handcuffed behind bars at the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison.
The charge? Domestic abuse, a private hell of punches, screams, and extortion that held his own mother hostage for who knows how many months, perhaps years. It was shortly after 1:00 PM on Thursday, October 23, when 911 rang like an emergency bell. "Help, my son... he's going crazy," the stammering words from the elderly woman's trembling voice mobilized the police within minutes.
The chief marshal, with his usual team – those boys who know every alley in the town like the back of their hand – rushed to the family home, a modest apartment in Via Roma, among the low buildings and flower-filled balconies that hide too many stories of pain.

There, in the act, they caught the man: a 30-year-old giant, his eyes shot with rage and his hands still stained with threats. The harassment, in fact, had been going on for some time: obsessive demands for money for vices or debts, followed by physical and verbal assaults that the elderly woman—a woman in her seventies, with hands calloused from working in the fields—had never dared to report.
Fear? Shame? Or that "family at all costs" sentiment that is an unwritten rule in these villages of the Frignano area near Caserta? The Carabinieri didn't hesitate: they stopped, searched, and loaded the 30-year-old into their blue jeep, transporting him to Santa Maria Capua Vetere.
