Head-on collision in Capaccio-Paestum: yet another road tragedy in Campania occurred late yesterday evening along Via Magna Graecia, near the intersection with Via Laghetto, in the heart of Capaccio-Paestum.
Anna Palladino, 70, a resident of the city of temples, died overnight at the Ruggi d'Aragona hospital in Salerno, where she had been rushed after a violent head-on collision between two cars.
The crash and the rescue
According to an initial reconstruction, the Fiat 500 driven by the woman collided head-on with a Fiat Panda carrying two young men from Salerno. The impact was devastating: both vehicles ended up crashing into the fence of a house on the edge of the road.
Emergency medical services responded immediately to the scene, along with a Red Cross ambulance and a medical car from Agropoli Hospital. Anna Palladino's condition immediately appeared desperate: after initial resuscitation efforts, she was intubated and rushed to Ruggi Hospital, where she died shortly after admission.
The two girls aboard the Panda suffered minor injuries and were treated on the spot and then subjected to the usual toxicology tests, as required in these cases.
