Padova– A thrilling draw that leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. At the Stadio Euganeo, Padova and Juve Stabia finished 2-2, culminating in a thrilling match full of twists and turns.
Yet, the ones complaining loudly are the Stabia players who, despite a hectic week to say the least on the corporate front, have shown the grit and determination that coach Ignazio Abbate instills in his team.
The Wasps dominated for long stretches of the match, but were punished by two glaring lapses in concentration that, in effect, gifted Padova the two goals that sealed the result.
A rocket start and the cold shower of the penalty
The first quarter of an hour was entirely dominated by Castellammare di Stabia.

Abbate's team remained unscathed and continued to dominate the game, besieging the opposition midfield. The match heated up in injury time: after Varas nearly doubled the lead, Juve Stabia earned a deserved equalizer in the 46th minute. Substitute Cacciamanni, with a commanding run, resisted the markings of Faedo and Ghiglione and beat the keeper to tie the first half at 1-1.
In the second half, Padova coach Andreoletti tried to shake up his side with no fewer than three substitutions, but Juve Stabia continued to dictate their pace. In the 23rd minute, they deserved to take the lead: a lapse in the white-and-blue defense paved the way for De Pieri, who, assisted by Candellone, slotted home into an empty net to make it 2-1.
At that point, Padova reacted with pride and equalized just five minutes later. The move stemmed from a bloody loss in midfield by Juve Stabia, just as they were preparing to counterattack. Bortolussi took advantage, leaping just outside the offside trap on Fusi's through ball and chipping the ball past the keeper to make it 2-2.
Given the delicate situation at the club, an away draw can be welcomed. The focus now shifts both on and off the pitch: developments are awaited to resolve the club's surrounding issues, especially after the recent decisions of the Prefect of Naples, who requested and obtained the postponement of Wednesday's home game against Bari. Juve Stabia has proven to be a tough team, but they must learn not to be the architect of their own problems.
