Pietramelara - What initially appeared to be a tragic hit-and-run accident turned out to be the violent culmination of a petty argument. Carabinieri officers from the Pietramelara station have reported a 43-year-old Indian man, legally resident in Italy, at large on a serious charge of grievous bodily harm for intentionally hitting a fellow Indian.
It all happened late in the evening of October 18th on Via Cinquevie, in Pietramelara. A 31-year-old man, also an Indian national and a local resident, was found lying on the ground with serious injuries and was urgently treated by emergency personnel, who transported him to Caserta Hospital. Initial suspicions were that he had been hit by a hit-and-run driver, and the man was admitted to the hospital with a guarded prognosis, although his life was not in danger.
The turning point in the investigations
Upon learning of the incident, the Carabinieri immediately began a thorough investigation.

According to the Carabinieri's final reconstruction, the collision was the culmination of a violent argument between the two compatriots. At the height of the argument, the 43-year-old got into his red Fiat 500 and, in a frenzy, aimed the car at his rival, hitting him head-on. He then sped away, failing to provide any assistance to the injured man.
The vehicle used in the attack was seized as evidence. The 43-year-old was subsequently released to the competent judicial authorities, where he is now facing charges for an act that nearly turned tragic.
