Marigliano – A sharp blade pierces the nighttime silence of the Marigliano municipal park, a green lung in the center of the town, a stone's throw from Nola.
On the night between Sunday and Monday, around 2:00 a.m., a 36-year-old man of Moroccan origin was stabbed in the back of the head and shoulder in an ambush that seemed premeditated.
The man, who lives and works in the area as a seasonal laborer, was rescued by Carabinieri officers from Castello di Cisterna and transported to Nola hospital with a red code. Fortunately, his life is not in danger, but his condition—with a prognosis of at least 20 days—testifies to the brutality of an act that has once again brought the spotlight to a region in turmoil.
The incident, which occurred in a place traditionally used for family recreation, has a bitter taste: the public park, with its benches and dimly lit paths, has been the scene of nocturnal petty crime for months, from drug dealing to fights between youth gangs. According to investigators' initial reconstruction, which is still being verified, the victim was approached by one or more assailants—currently without a clear identity or motive—who surprised her from behind.
The Moroccan man, identified as Ahmed B., apparently staggered to the Marigliano medical center, where the emergency call was made. The swift intervention and the chase: The Carabinieri, alerted shortly after 2:30 a.m., rushed to the scene with two patrol cars from the Castello di Cisterna mobile unit, led by Chief Warrant Officer Luigi Esposito.
Immediately stabilized by the on-call doctors, the injured man was loaded into an ambulance and rushed to the Santa Maria della Pietà hospital in Nola, where surgeons sutured the wounds without the need for major intervention.

Having acquired images from the video surveillance cameras installed in the villa—only two, pointed at the main entrance—the investigators sifted through every pixel looking for clues: a face, a getaway car, a suspicious shadow.
At this time, there are no formal suspicions, but the police have issued an internal alert to intensify checks in surrounding areas, including nearby Nola. A wave of violence: from the Pakistani in September to the homeless man in Nola.
This stabbing isn't a bolt from the blue, but the latest in a bloody chain that has been staining the Nola countryside for weeks. Just last night, less than 10 kilometers away, a North African homeless man was massacred by a gang of youths at the Nola train station: kicks, punches, and sticks in a raid reeking of racial hatred.
And let's not forget September: on the 23rd, a 24-year-old Pakistani man, AD, was beaten up in the city center by a group of his peers, with xenophobic insults that sparked an anti-fascist rally on the 28th.
