Salerno – From the first light of day, a major operation by the Guardia di Finanza (Financial Police) shook the city. Dozens of members of the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza (Fiamme Gialle), coordinated by the Salerno District Anti-Mafia Directorate, executed an order issued by the preliminary investigations judge of the Salerno Court, imposing a series of precautionary measures against a large group of suspects accused of being part of a criminal network dedicated to drug trafficking.
A total of 39 people are implicated, in various capacities, in criminal conspiracy aimed at drug trafficking, as well as in numerous incidents of possession and dealing of narcotics—including cocaine, crack, and hashish—primarily destined for the Salerno nightlife market.
According to investigators' reconstruction, the organization had branches in several city neighborhoods and obtained drugs through established channels, then supplied pushers active in nightlife areas, from downtown clubs to the coastal areas.
The investigating judge ordered the pre-trial detention of 18 suspects, while 21 others were placed under house arrest.

The security detail deployed dozens of soldiers, supported by canine units and aircraft, in an operation that—according to investigators—marks a severe blow to the drug dealing network that fueled the capital's nightlife.
The investigation, which lasted several months, documented a dense network of relationships between the organization's alleged members, each with clearly defined roles: from suppliers to intermediaries, to small-time dealers active in areas frequented by young people. The evidence gathered included wiretaps, stakeouts, and drug seizures, which, taken together, outlined the makeup of a fully-fledged criminal network.
Investigators are speaking of a "significant blow" to an organization that had made drug trafficking a stable and profitable business, intertwined with Salerno's nightlife and nightlife.

The Guardia di Finanza's operation was very important for the city of Salerno, but I don't know if it will be enough to stop drug trafficking, which appears to be deeply rooted in several neighborhoods. Let's hope the precautionary measures are effective.
