MUGNANO DI NAPOLI – A ton of untraceable fish, ready to end up on consumers' tables, was seized during the night between 23rd and 24th October by the Guardia di Finanza of the Naval Air Operations Department of NapoliThe operation, conducted as part of a broader plan to monitor the food supply chain, led to the discovery of fish products completely lacking the required documentation certifying their origin and quality.
The Guardia di Finanza soldiers, who intervened at the fish market in Mugnano, they blocked the shipment — with an estimated value of around 35 thousand euros — intended for retail sale, but potentially dangerous to public health.

The seized product, after the necessary health checks by the competent local health authority, will be donated to charity if deemed fit for human consumption. The Guardia di Finanza (Financial Police) has announced that controls on the fish supply chain will continue and will be further strengthened in preparation for the Christmas holidays, a period when demand for fish increases and attempts to market products that do not comply with health and food safety standards increase.
