A new blow to drug trafficking in the Castellammare di Stabia area. In recent days, officers from the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza in Naples discovered a massive cannabis cultivation and processing facility in Lettere, in the Lattari Mountains.
Inside an isolated warehouse, camouflaged among the terraces and vegetation, the Guardia di Finanza (Fiamme Gialle) of the Castellammare di Stabia Company found 142 kilos of inflorescences ready for packaging and sale, as well as 5.750 drying plants and 390 specimens in an advanced stage of growth. In total, more than a ton of narcotics was seized.
The perpetrator, a man of letters with no criminal record, tenant of the land and warehouse, was reported to the Torre Annunziata Public Prosecutor's Office for the illicit production, trafficking, and possession of narcotics.
According to the financial police's findings, the warehouse had been transformed into a veritable "drug factory": two internal levels, a homemade drying system with iron wire and machinery for separating the inflorescences, as well as a rudimentary irrigation system.

The plants, placed between nylon threads to support their growth, were treated until a finished product was obtained, ready for packaging in doses.
The operation is part of a broader plan to combat marijuana cultivation in the Lattari Mountains, an area long dubbed the "Jamaica of Italy" due to the proliferation of illegal plantations discovered in the woods of Gragnano, Pimonte, Agerola, and Lettere. In recent years, the Guardia di Finanza and the Carabinieri have dismantled several greenhouses and seized tons of cannabis destined for the Neapolitan and Campania markets.
Lettere's seizure confirms once again how the rugged, hard-to-reach and lushly planted hills of the Lattari Mountains continue to be an ideal refuge for those attempting to set up illegal laboratories and plantations, transforming one of the most scenic areas of the coast into a hub for drug production.
