Naples – Two knives for safety. One for use and one as a backup, in case the first one is disarmed. This is the disturbing mentality with which a 19-year-old was caught by Carabinieri in the heart of the Chiaia nightlife district, a discovery that refocuses attention on the violence crisis plaguing Neapolitan nightlife.
The results of the high-impact checks carried out by the Napoli Centro Company are, once again, a report of widespread lawlessness: blades, wild fireworks, and arrogance.
The "reserve" arsenal in Chiaia
The most alarming incident occurred on Via Alabardieri, a few steps from Piazza dei Martiri. The officers, flashing lights illuminating the crowded bars, arrested a 19-year-old. The search revealed the absurd: not one, but two blades hidden on his person.
When cornered, the young man allegedly offered an explanation that captures a pre-existing criminal mentality: the second knife was a backup, ready for use if he was "disarmed" by the first. He was immediately charged.
The child emergency continues
The alarm isn't limited to adults. Not far away, in Piazza Municipio, the Carabinieri stopped a 16-year-old. He also had a knife in his pocket. His justification was almost more worrying than the crime itself: he candidly admitted that he "didn't know it was illegal" to carry it around with him.
This is not an isolated incident, but rather part of a spiral of youth violence that in recent months has seen an escalation in arrests and reports of armed minors.

Chaos and fireworks in Piazza Dante
The night of madness continued in the historic center. In Piazza Dante, a 22-year-old decided to celebrate his birthday by setting off a battery of fireworks amidst the crowd, including pedestrians and tourists. The recklessness was complete: some rockets landed dangerously close to the tents of the clubs, risking starting a fire.
During the service, the usual crimes were not lacking:
Three illegal parking attendants reported, caught charging exorbitant sums to motorists.
45 traffic violations.
Four motorcyclists were fined for speeding in the pedestrian area of Piazza Dante.
10 people reported to the Prefecture as drug users and 11 vehicles seized.
