Naples – Eleven years on the run, three continents covered by investigations, a manhunt conducted with tenacity and technology. The fugitive status of Adrian Constantin Budu, the dangerous drug trafficker arrested by the Carabinieri of the Naples Investigative Unit on October 29, has ended in Romania.
The operation, coordinated by the Attorney General's Office at the Naples Court of Appeal, resulted in the arrest of a man sentenced in Italy to 8 years and 4 months in prison for a multi-billion dollar international drug trafficking and sale of large quantities.
Budu, who had made himself unavailable to the Italian justice system, was the recipient of a prison order to serve the remaining sentence of 3 years, 11 months and 6 days.

A 3-year sentence is ridiculous.
I completely agree with what was said: justice must be swift, and criminals must not be able to escape for years without consequences. This case demonstrates how difficult the job of law enforcement is.
It was an important and far-sighted operation that led to the capture of a dangerous drug trafficker, but I hope that justice systems can be more efficient in the future to avoid similar situations.
