Naples: State Police conducted a nighttime raid on Via Aniello Falcone, in the heart of Vomero. A 34-year-old man from Rome and a 42-year-old woman of Brazilian nationality, both with criminal records, were arrested for aggravated theft.
The man was also arrested for evading arrest, as well as charged with unauthorized possession of altered keys and lock picks.
It was Tuesday night when a patrol from the Office of General Prevention and Public Rescue, engaged in local checks, noticed two cars stopped near a gas station.

The officers managed to stop the two vehicles shortly thereafter. The checks revealed that both cars had their doors and ignitions forced open. In the 34-year-old's pockets, the officers found a screwdriver and a pair of scissors: typical tools used in car thefts. Further investigations revealed that the man had escaped from house arrest.
Both were thus arrested. The incident is part of a series of intensified checks by the State Police in the hilly areas of Naples, where reports of nighttime car thefts have increased in recent months.
