Naples – 00:46 AM. A night of violence in the heart of Naples. A 31-year-old Moroccan man was rushed to Pellegrini Hospital after being stabbed in the face during a violent argument in the Porta Capuana area.
According to an initial and still fragmentary reconstruction by the Carabinieri of the Naples Mobile Radio Unit, the incident occurred shortly after midnight. The 31-year-old, whose full identity has not yet been released, was not the initial target of the confrontation, but attempted to intervene to break up a fight that had broken out between some of his fellow countrymen.
The sudden blow
In an attempt to mediate, the man was instead attacked by one of the contenders. The latter, in the heat of the moment, allegedly pulled out a sharp weapon (perhaps a knife or a pointed object) and struck him violently, hitting him squarely in the cheekbone.
The victim collapsed to the ground, suffering from a stab wound and several facial bruises consistent with the attack. He was immediately taken to a hospital in Naples for medical attention.
His condition, although serious due to the nature of the wound, is not particularly worrying: the 31-year-old was hospitalized for observation but is not believed to be in danger of life.
Escape and investigations underway
After the attack, the brawlers, including the attacker, fled before the arrival of the Carabinieri patrols. The Carabinieri immediately launched an investigation to reconstruct the exact circumstances of the incident, which currently remain unclear, and to identify the attacker.
Possible witness statements and the existence of surveillance cameras in the Porta Capuana area , often the scene of petty crime and degradation, are being examined. The most likely hypothesis remains that of aggravated assault resulting from trivial incidents during the fight.

This episode of violence is very worrying. It seems the situation in Naples is getting worse. Something must be done to improve security, otherwise there will be more similar incidents in the future.
