Naples – Tension and fear erupted last night at Naples Central Station, where a man attempted to force his way into the railway hub, threatening security personnel and then attacking the police officers who intervened.
The incident led to the arrest of a 26-year-old Neapolitan man, already known to law enforcement for previous offenses, including specific ones. He was arrested by the State Police on charges of threatening, resisting a public official, and illegal possession of offensive objects.
The incident occurred during routine security operations within the railway complex. Officers from the Campania Railway Police Department noticed the 26-year-old man, without a ticket, attempting to pass through the access gates.
When the Ferrovie dello Stato security staff resisted, the man reacted with unprecedented violence, brandishing a broken bottle to intimidate them and force his way through.

The police intervened immediately. Despite their presence, the young man continued his violent and aggressive behavior. Only with considerable difficulty did the officers manage to subdue and restrain him.
During the identification and search procedures, the police discovered that the 26-year-old had not only made threats with the broken bottle: he was in possession of a folding knife which, at the time of the arrest, was found with the blade open and ready for use.
This circumstance further aggravated the suspect's situation, and he was taken into custody. The incident once again underscores the importance of security at major railway hubs, which are often the scene of tensions and criminal activity.

This was a very serious incident and one that makes us reflect on how security at stations is increasingly important. The police were right to intervene, even though the situation was complicated and dangerous for everyone. I hope solutions are found.
