Naples – State Police controls against drug dealing in the heart of the city continue unabated. Last night, officers from the Office of General Prevention and Public Aid arrested a 21-year-old Romanian man with a criminal record, caught with several doses of crack cocaine ready for sale.
The operation is part of the extraordinary measures implemented by the Naples Police Headquarters to combat drug trafficking in central neighborhoods, particularly the Corso Garibaldi area, which has long been a focus of law enforcement attention due to the presence of drug dealers and small-time traffickers.
The check and attempted escape on Via Lavinaio
It was just after two in the morning when a patrol on territorial control noticed a young man who, having just gotten out of a car on Via Lavinaio, changed direction and tried to run away at the sight of the officers.
An attitude that immediately aroused the suspicion of the police, who decided to stop him for a check.
The boy, visibly agitated, was found in possession of a package containing crack cocaine and 140 euros in cash, divided into bills of various denominations—an amount consistent with retail drug dealing.

The car search and the discovery of the drugs
The police, convinced that the young man might be hiding more drugs, extended their searches to the car he had just gotten out of.
Inside, carefully hidden, 16 more packages of the same substance were found, for a total weight of approximately 3,5 grams of crack.
The material was seized along with the money, believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing.
The arrest
The 21-year-old was arrested for possession of narcotics with intent to sell and taken to the Police Headquarters for routine checks.
The incident confirms that the area around Corso Garibaldi and the surrounding streets, from Via Lavinaio to Piazza Garibaldi, remains one of the most sensitive areas in the fight against small-scale drug dealing in the city, with targeted checks that have already led to several seizures and arrests in recent weeks.

It's important for the police to conduct checks in these neighborhoods, but I don't know if arresting just one young person is enough to stop drug dealing. A broader plan is needed to address the problem.
