The quick thinking of several passersby and the immediate intervention of the State Police, however, prevented the perpetrator, a 28-year-old Moroccan man with a criminal record and an illegal immigration status, from escaping. He was arrested on charges of improper robbery and assault.
According to the reconstruction by officers at the Montecalvario Police Station , the man took advantage of a moment of distraction from the victim to grab her phone. When the woman attempted to resist, the robber violently struck and pushed her, knocking her to the ground before attempting to flee. Some bystanders intervened to stop him, attracting the attention of a passing patrol.
After a brief struggle, the officers managed to subdue him and recover his cell phone, which was immediately returned to the victim. The woman, visibly shaken but not in serious condition, received assistance on the scene. The 28-year-old was taken to the police station and held pending judicial decisions.
