Naples. The shooting has returned, once again this afternoon, in the area near Piazza Mercato in Naples. Was it a shooting or a failed ambush?
It happened around 4:00 PM on Via Amerigo Vespucci. Numerous calls came into the police station reporting gunshots in the street. Police cars arrived on the scene and are collecting witness statements and collecting the shell casings left in the street.
There are no traces of blood, so it's likely there are injuries, but the emergency rooms of the city hospitals have already been alerted to check for any arrivals of people injured by gunshots.

Meanwhile, work is underway to analyze images from public and private CCTV cameras in the area. The presence of police cars, not only arousing curiosity, but also causing traffic delays.
Last week, there was another shooting on Via Gabella Vecchia, not far from Via Vespucci. That incident, too, occurred in the afternoon and struck an unoccupied building.

It's incredible how problems like this continue to exist in Naples. People should feel safer, but every day there are frightening reports of shootings and violence. We hope the authorities take serious action to improve the situation.
