San Giovanni a Teduccio – An uncommon robbery attempt, in fact, almost "Mission Impossible"-esque: two young bandits riding an unregistered scooter attempted to block a tow truck transporting a Ferrari seized by the Milan court.

The driver, attacked and threatened, reacted courageously and managed to foil the robbery.
It all started a few days ago, in the afternoon, when an off-duty policeman noticed a Ferrari Italia parked in a peripheral area of Volla, apparently abandoned.

The officer, suspicious, decided to check the license plate: the check revealed that the car had been seized for several days, following an order from the Milan court.

Pending further investigation, the police ordered the vehicle to be transferred to a designated judicial warehouse and called a tow truck to recover it.

The ambush on Corso San Giovanni

The transport seemed to proceed without problems, but along Corso San Giovanni a Teduccio, two men on a gray Honda scooter pulled up alongside the tow truck.

They ordered the driver to stop, making it clear that they were armed.

The frightened man got out of the vehicle, but once he realized the two were unarmed, he reacted decisively, engaging in a fight with the robbers. A brief but violent struggle ensued in the street, after which the robbers, seeing themselves in difficulty, abandoned their attempt and fled towards Ponticelli.

The transfer and the investigations

Despite his fright, the driver completed the delivery of the Ferrari, arriving at the judicial warehouse on Via Volpicella, in Barra, around midnight.

The investigation has been entrusted to the Vicaria-Mercato police station, where the same officer who identified the car in Volla is employed. The Flying Squad has also been notified of the case, and is now attempting to reconstruct the chain of events and determine any possible connections between the discovery and the robbery.

The investigative hypothesis

Investigators have not ruled out the possibility that the attempted robbery may have been organized by someone interested in recovering the supercar before it was placed in judicial custody.

The Ferrari, of high economic value, could be at the centre of a wider affair, linked to asset seizures or money laundering operations.
Investigators are already examining footage from surveillance cameras in the area, hoping to gather evidence to help identify the two scooter-riding fugitives.
