ROME, October 22, 2025 – Bringing certified nutritional expertise to the world of Italian sports: this is the goal of the new Sports Commission established by the National Federation of Biologists' Associations (FNOB), strongly supported by President Senator Vincenzo D'Anna.
"The biologist should not be an additional consultant, but a pillar of the sports team, on a par with the athletic trainer and the sports doctor.", says D'Anna.

The Commission, coordinated by biologist Matteo Pincella, will be composed of experts with proven professional experience. It will not be a bureaucratic body, but a bridge between biologists and sports federations, between science and practice, between training and the field. "This Commission will be an accelerator of change – continues D'Anna – to bring science into sport, enhance the role of the biologist and build a model of institutional collaboration projected towards the future".
The initiative follows a few days after the signing of the memorandum of understanding between FNOB and FIGC, aimed at introducing nutritional biologists into the professional football system. A similar agreement is also being finalized with the Italian Football Federation. Basketball (FIP). D'Anna announced that a Nutrition School will soon open in Milan. "A space to train, strengthen, and give voice to those who, with expertise and responsibility, can truly impact the health and performance of athletes."
