A routine check on gun owners turned into a full-blown arsenal seizure. In Palma Campania, Carabinieri officers from the local station arrested a 42-year-old local man with no criminal record on charges of illegal possession of weapons and ammunition.
The operation is part of a series of checks ordered by the Carabinieri to monitor those who hold rifle or pistol licenses and comply with regulations regarding their storage and use. When the officers knocked on the man's door, however, they didn't expect to find much more than what had been duly reported.
During the house search, the Carabinieri found three legally owned rifles and two pistols, but the surprise came shortly after: in a closet and in some boxes hidden in the house were also a 9x21 caliber pistol, which was found to be stolen, a 24 caliber rifle of dubious origin, 619 cartridges of various calibers, and thirteen switchblades of various sizes.

All the material was immediately seized. The man, who had no prior criminal record, was arrested and charged with illegal possession of weapons and ammunition. He was transferred to the police station and, after the usual formalities, released to the judicial authorities pending the validation of his conviction.
The investigation is now aimed at clarifying the origin of the undeclared weapons and verifying whether they may have been used in criminal incidents in the area. "These are routine checks that often reveal latent dangers even in apparently peaceful contexts," investigative sources say.
The operation is part of a broader prevention plan implemented by the Naples Provincial Command of the Carabinieri, which in recent weeks has intensified checks on gun owners in several municipalities in the Vesuvian area, with the aim of ensuring greater security and preventing abuse or illicit trafficking.

This article is interesting, but there are some things that aren't clear. How is it possible for a man with no criminal record to have such a large arsenal? More frequent checks should be carried out to prevent such situations and protect the community.
