Caserta – The two young men from the Caserta hinterland involved in the brutal beating that occurred near the Royal Palace of Caserta in late December 2023 will be tried on charges of aggravated assault.
The Public Prosecutor of the Sammarinese Prosecutor's Office, Dr. Albenzio Ricciardiello, has signed the request for indictment and the decree of direct summons for trial against Nicola Caparco, 26, and Yania Benaddi, 23, both residents of Macerata, Campania.
The magistrate's decision fully accepts the requests made by the lawyers Raffaele and Gaetano Crisileo, representing the injured party, Renato Fusco, a young university student from Santa Maria Capua Vetere, who at the time of the events had filed a detailed and substantiated complaint against the two alleged attackers.
Beating for trivial reasons
According to the reconstruction contained in the investigation documents, the attack dates back to December 2023 and apparently arose from trivial motives, degenerating within moments into unspeakable violence.
Caparco and Benaddi allegedly repeatedly kicked and punched Fusco, leaving him on the ground in a pool of blood until help arrived.
The police, who promptly arrived on the scene, immediately began investigations, collecting witness statements and images that allowed them to quickly identify those responsible.

An ambulance also arrived at the scene of the beating and transported the victim to the emergency room of the Caserta hospital, where doctors diagnosed facial trauma, lacerations to the face and lips, and fractured teeth and a foot, injuries that resulted in a prognosis of several days.
The trial and the charges
The case will soon be heard before the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, where the hearing will be held before the sole judge, Dr. Francesca Auriemma.
The injured party, Renato Fusco, has already announced his intention to join the civil action, represented by his trusted lawyers, brothers Raffaele and Gaetano Crisileo.
Caparco and Benaddi face a serious charge: they will have to answer for aggravated voluntary bodily harm in concert, for having acted—according to the Prosecutor's Office—with particular violence and cruelty.
An episode that shook the city
The attack, which occurred just steps from one of the city's symbols, the Royal Palace of Caserta, sparked dismay and indignation among residents at the time.
An episode of gratuitous violence that brought attention to the issue of safety in the historic center and in youth nightlife areas.
The trial will now clarify the responsibilities of the two defendants and reconstruct in detail the circumstances of a beating that, due to its brutality, remained long etched in the memories of the people of Caserta.

The article about a brutal beating is very disturbing. I hope justice is served and those responsible are punished. Violence should not be tolerated in any context or situation.
