Pomigliano – From community healthcare to the circular economy, a major event took place today in Pomigliano d'Arco, where Campania Regional President Vincenzo De Luca inaugurated two strategic projects: the laying of the foundation stone for the Community Hospital on Via Cosimo Miccoli and the inauguration of the new municipal composting plant on Via Passatiello.

A double ceremony attended by numerous civil, religious, and military dignitaries. Deputy Mayor Domenico Leone, representing Mayor Raffaele Russo, who was absent due to health reasons, hosted the ceremony.

The PNRR Hospital: Treatments to be completed by the summer

The first event focused on new community healthcare. The groundbreaking for the new Community Hospital, funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) and managed by ASL Napoli 3 Sud, marks the start of construction on a facility for post-acute patients requiring low- and medium-intensity care. The goal is to complete the project by next summer.

"A moment of great pride," said Deputy Mayor Leone. "It's a project that strengthens the local healthcare network and puts people at the center, a concrete step toward more efficient and local healthcare."

Environment: the turning point of composting

The delegation then moved to Via Passatiello for the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the composting plant, which began construction in September 2023. The facility, the administration's flagship, will have a capacity to process 24 tons of organic and green waste annually.

"After years of waiting," Leone added, "we are giving citizens a cutting-edge facility that will allow us to be among the most virtuous municipalities in Campania in promoting the circular economy."

De Luca: "Pomigliano is not just any municipality."

The most anticipated speech was that of Governor De Luca, who hailed the regional successes and praised the city's role.

On the subject of waste, De Luca called the plant "one of the symbols" of the new management cycle. "We addressed a problem of biblical proportions," he said, referring to the four and a half million tons of eco-bales on the ground. "We eliminated them almost entirely. We've accomplished a historic feat by creating a completely autonomous management cycle."

The President then emphasized the centrality of Pomigliano, defined as a "child of industry" due to the presence of Fiat, Avio, and Leonardo: "Pomigliano is not just any municipality, but one of those six or seven communities that represent Campania and even Italy."

The electoral thrust: "Don't get confused."

Finally, De Luca concluded his speech with a clear and direct political warning, in view of future electoral deadlines.

"Today we are making a leap forward in our civilization as a Campania region," he said. "And I remind you not to confuse you in a month's time. I'm not saying anything, but these things must continue; we must work to complete the work. My invitation is to help us ensure that Campania doesn't return to the swamp from which we took it when we began this work."
