NAPLES – He took advantage of a distracted tourist sitting in a bar on Via Toledo to steal her bag, but his escape lasted only a few minutes. A 28-year-old man of Moroccan origin, already known to law enforcement for property crimes, was arrested yesterday evening by officers from the Montecalvario Police Station.
The police officers, on patrol in Via Sant'Anna dei Lombardi, noticed a man running at full speed towards Via Monteoliveto.

A wallet containing the documents of a Spanish tourist was found in his pockets. Subsequent review of the surveillance footage clarified everything: moments earlier, the man had stolen the woman's purse, sitting at a table in a café on Via Toledo, and fled.
The 28-year-old was arrested for improper robbery, assault, and resisting arrest. The wallet was returned to its owner, who thanked the officers for their prompt intervention.
The Police Headquarters emphasizes that security checks will continue in the tourist areas of the historic center to ensure greater safety for residents and visitors.
