The Naples Police Headquarters continues to conduct extraordinary checks to curb drug trafficking in the city's neighborhoods. Yesterday afternoon, in San Giovanni , the State Police arrested a 30-year-old Neapolitan man, already known to law enforcement for specific criminal convictions, on charges of possession of narcotics, assault, and resisting a public official.
The man, riding an e-bike, was spotted by officers from the San Giovanni Barra Police Station while riding along Corso Bruno Buozzi. Upon seeing the patrol, he suddenly accelerated to avoid being stopped, ignoring the officers' order to stop. A brief but dangerous chase ensued, ending on Via Giuseppe Mercalli, where the fugitive struck one of the officers who was getting out of his patrol car, knocking them both to the ground.
Arrested immediately afterward, the 30-year-old was found in possession of five bags of marijuana weighing approximately five grams, a wrap of hashish, and ten euros in cash. He was arrested and will now face charges before the judicial authorities.
