Sant'Arpino – An emotional embrace, a bouquet of flowers, and heartfelt words of gratitude. The dramatic story of a 72-year-old woman from Sant'Arpino battling for life on October 20th, saved thanks to the timely intervention of the Carabinieri, ended yesterday with her discharge from the Aversa hospital.

The scene unfolded in the late morning of that day, on Via Di Vittorio. The woman, struck by a sudden illness while in the waiting room of a doctor's office, was collapsed on the floor, unconscious. Her heart had stopped beating. Some passersby, noticing the commotion, immediately alerted the emergency number 112.

Within minutes, Carabinieri officers from the Sant'Arpino station arrived on the scene. A tense scene awaited them: a nurse, who happened to be there, was already desperately performing CPR on the woman. When her strength began to fail, the officers took over, continuing CPR under the supervision of the family doctor, who had arrived in the meantime.

Those minutes, waiting for specialized help, seemed interminable.

Until the miracle: thanks to constant, rhythmic pressure on the elderly woman's chest, her heart began beating again. Shortly thereafter, the arrival of an ambulance allowed paramedics to stabilize the patient with a defibrillator, before she was urgently transferred to the Aversa hospital. From there, she was admitted to the Cardiology Unit and monitored in intensive care.

Yesterday, Tuesday, October 28th, the happy ending finally came: her resignation. But for the 72-year-old, her return home wasn't complete without a gesture of thanks. She expressed her desire to meet her guardian angels in uniform in person.

And so, this morning, the Carabinieri who saved her life reached her home. They were greeted not only with words of profound gratitude, but also with a sincere and emotional embrace. "Thank you for my life," said the elderly woman, visibly shaken, praising not only their prompt response and dedication in those dramatic moments, but also the daily commitment of the police force to serving the community.

The soldiers returned the affection with a simple yet meaningful bouquet of flowers, transforming the meeting into a touching moment of humanity. A story that goes beyond institutional duty and becomes a symbol of a community that, in the darkest moments, knows how to pull together. Proving that sometimes, the difference between life and death is measured in courageous gestures and a heartbeat that, miraculously, starts beating again.
