Naples - A red alert has been raised in Naples' school cafeterias, with an urgent report denouncing "unacceptable sanitary conditions and obvious preparation and cooking errors" in children's meals, particularly at the "Minniti" Comprehensive Institute, the "JF Kennedy" School, and the "La Loggetta" Preschool in Municipality 10 (Bagnoli-Fuorigrotta).

The very serious situation was brought to the attention of the Councilor for Education and Families, Dr. Maura Striano, by City Councilor Luigi Carbone, who attached images to his complaint that allegedly document the non-compliance of the service.

The text of the report clearly speaks of a critical issue that "not only compromises the quality of service, but raises serious concerns regarding food safety and compliance with current specifications."

Councilor Striano responded immediately to the question, activating a series of measures to shed light on and address the crisis. The first steps were taken last weekend:

Notice of Violation of Contract: Municipality 10 has forwarded a formal notice to the contractor, Serenissima SpA, initiating proceedings for breach of contract, accompanied by a formal notice to implement urgent improvement measures.

External Controls: The Right to Education Service has commissioned the company Lab Service 2000 to activate controls on cooking centers and schools, starting with Municipality 10.

Involvement of Managers: The Department has requested a detailed report from the internal canteen committees from the school managers of Municipality 10.

The inspection and verification process is now underway. The Department has scheduled a crucial meeting for Thursday, October 23, inviting Serenissima Ristorazione SpA and all the other service contractors (including A. & C. Private srl, Turrini srl, Vivenda SpA, Sodexo Italia SpA, EPSpA, and Lab Service srl) to address the reports, which also involve Municipality 6.

Furthermore, the Head of the Health Promotion and Nutritional Surveillance Unit at the ASL Napoli 2 Nord was asked to evaluate the possibility of carrying out a rapid inspection of the cooking center and warehouse of Serenissima Ristorazione SpA, a fundamental step in verifying hygiene conditions at the source.

Finally, the Municipality's Education and Family Commission has called a meeting for today, October 22, 2025, for a "discussion and action plan." The Naples-based representative of the disputed company will participate.

The entire affair, which directly affects the health of minors and the credibility of the city's school lunch system, is now being closely monitored by the Department, which promises to take prompt and decisive action.
