Further pollution is reported in the Sarno basin, one of Italy's most affected waterways. Carabinieri officers from the Serino Forestry Unit, along with their colleagues from the territorial force, have charged a 58-year-old businessman with illegal wastewater discharge. The investigation began during a series of checks aimed at combating environmental crimes in the Solofra tanning district, in the province of Avellino, an area often at the center of attention due to the environmental issues related to the sector.
According to the findings, the company involved, active in the storage and transport of chemical products destined for the tanning industry, discharged runoff from its yard directly onto the public road.
