Sarno - A double operation by the State Police along the banks of the Sarno River led to the arrest of a woman and the detention of her accomplice, both caught red-handed in drug dealing activity in an area sadly known for its degradation and illicit activity.
At the center of the operation was a 31-year-old woman, originally from the province of Bari but long-time resident of the Piana del Sele, caught in the company of a 21-year-old Moroccan citizen, who was found to be illegally residing in Italy.
The couple was camping in a strategic and hidden spot, right under the railway bridge that crosses the Sarno River, when they were intercepted by a patrol.
At the sight of the officers, the two reacted instinctively, attempting a hasty and desperate escape in opposite directions, sparking a frantic manhunt.
The 31-year-old was promptly arrested.

Meanwhile, the accomplice engaged in a lengthy foot chase. His pursuit ended only when, in an attempt to hide, he entered a nearby construction site. The cooperation of the workers present on site was crucial, facilitating the police's intervention.
By order of the Public Prosecutor on duty at the Nocera Inferiore Public Prosecutor's Office, the 31-year-old was arrested red-handed for possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

The police operation appears to have been very effective, but I wonder how these illegal activities can continue to thrive in certain areas. It's important to have more frequent and effective checks to prevent similar situations.
