Not only were they dumping waste, creating an illegal landfill, but they also attempted to deceive those supposed to stop them. This is the story of two Arzano businessmen caught red-handed by the local police during night patrols in the Via Pecchia area, an area now transformed into a gathering place for those who prefer illegality to recycling.
The raid was the result of a thorough investigation coordinated by Commander Biagio Chisriello. The officers, after observing a recurring pattern of reckless abandonment—particularly intense during the night between Saturday and Sunday—set up a targeted surveillance system. And finally, the fish found their way into the net.
The most surreal scene unfolded during the operation. One of the two shopkeepers, caught in the act, attempted a clumsy diversion: as soon as he saw the patrol car, he approached the officers, loudly demanding to know why they weren't "catching the person responsible" for the waste dump. Unfortunately, as the officers quickly determined, he was the one "responsible."
Faced with the evidence gathered during the monitoring, both traders had no choice but to admit their responsibilities.

Meanwhile, the city administration has announced that combating environmental incivility remains a top priority. Enforcement services will continue with even greater intensity, especially in the city's most critical areas and during the evening and nighttime hours, when "waste pirates" feel safest.

It's truly incredible how people can get to such extremes. Abandoning waste is a terrible thing, and it's incomprehensible why they can't use waste collection services. I hope these actions serve as an example.
