Eboli – Tragedy struck this morning on the A2 Mediterranean motorway, near Eboli, where a truck driver died after being struck by a sudden illness while driving his truck.
It was just after 8 a.m. when the man, who was traveling north, showed the first symptoms of illness but had the foresight to pull over into the emergency lane, thus avoiding an accident that could have involved other vehicles in transit.
Moments after stopping, the driver collapsed inside the truck's cab, losing consciousness.

Man dies at 82 after being struck by a tree he was cutting down on his property.
All efforts were futile: nothing could be done for the man. Traffic Police officers conducted investigations to determine the cause of death and reconstruct the events, while Anas personnel worked to ensure safety and traffic flow.
For several minutes, northbound traffic slowed, then gradually returned to normal. Authorities are now identifying the truck driver and notifying his family.
A quick gesture by the driver, who, with his final act of lucidity, likely avoided far more serious consequences for those traveling on the same road.
