NAPLES – Another workplace tragedy, another victim. Francesco De Simone, a 61-year-old carpenter from Torre Annunziata, died yesterday morning at trecase, crushed by a masonry beam that fell from the first floor of a villa under renovation.
According to initial investigations by the Carabinieri, the man was working illegally: he had no employment contract, while the construction site lacked the necessary permits and was immediately seized.

The dramatic incident has once again highlighted safety conditions on construction sites in Campania, where two other serious accidents occurred on the same day: in Nola, a 53-year-old worker fell two meters while assembling shelving in the Vulcano Buono shopping center and is now hospitalized with a critical prognosis; in Montella, Irpinia, a pruning worker was seriously injured after being struck by a large branch.
