Trecase – Another workplace tragedy in Campania. A 61-year-old man lost his life this morning in Trecase, struck in the head by a masonry beam while working on renovations outside a house.
It happened shortly before noon at Via Capitano Rea 186. According to an initial reconstruction by the Carabinieri, the 61-year-old, a carpenter with extensive experience on local construction sites, was working on renovating the building's facade when a beam suddenly broke loose from the first floor, crushing him.
The impact left him no chance: the man died instantly, before the eyes of his colleagues who immediately alerted the emergency services.
The Carabinieri of the Torre Annunziata Company and the Investigative Unit intervened on the scene, together with the 118 paramedics, who could do nothing but certify the death.

The investigation, entrusted to the Carabinieri and inspectors from the Workplace Prevention and Safety Service of the ASL Napoli 3 Sud, aims to establish whether all safety regulations were respected.
This latest accident is part of a dramatic trend of accidents that continues to plague Campania: in recent months alone, numerous similar cases have been recorded in Naples, Caserta, and Salerno, on construction sites and industrial sites where safety too often remains an unfulfilled promise.
According to the latest INAIL data, the region is among the highest in Italy for workplace accident reports, with a significant increase compared to last year. This situation once again highlights the urgent need for strengthened inspections and training for those who work in risky conditions every day.
Meanwhile, in Trecase, on Via Capitano Rea, the yellow ribbons of the Carabinieri remain, along with the silence of the 61-year-old's colleagues, shocked by a death that—as too often happens—perhaps could have been avoided.

This is a very sad event and makes us reflect on how important workplace safety is. Every time an accident like this happens, we wonder if it could have been avoided. More must be done to protect workers.
