A 19-year-old man from Aversa arrested for a "fake accident" scam involving an elderly woman.

Naples, October 16, 2025 – Another scam targeting an elderly woman, but this time the scam ended with an arrest. The State Police arrested a 19-year-old in Scampia. Aversa, accused of aggravated fraud, and his accomplice, a 45-year-old, was reported for the same crime.
The two had just staged the classic "fake accident" scam. The young man had shown up at the home of an elderly woman in Aprilia, pretending to need to collect compensation for an alleged accident involving the victim's daughter. The woman, frightened and convinced by the story, had handed over numerous gold jewelry, worth over €10.000.

A few hours later, however, the plan collapsed.

During a routine patrol on Via Tancredi Galimberti, officers from the Office of General Prevention and Public Rescue observed two people in a car acting suspiciously. When searched, the 19-year-old was found with a purse full of jewelry. When questioned, he was unable to explain the origin of the items.
