ROME, OCTOBER 30 – "We welcome the Chamber of Deputies' unanimous approval of the bipartisan motion recognizing nutrition as a cornerstone in the fight against cancer, committing the Government to include nutritionists in treatment plans, promoting prevention campaigns, and improving the quality of food in hospital cafeterias." This was stated in a statement by Senator Vincenzo D'Anna, President of the National Federation of Biologists' Associations (FNOB), who thanked "Minister of Health Orazio Schillaci and Undersecretary Marcello Gemmato for this important measure."
"We remind you, however," D'Anna continues, "that nutritional biologists, who have recently been recognized by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of the Interior, under Minister Anna Maria Bernini, as having extensive professional expertise in nutrition, including oncology, as well as the ability to work in public facilities, must be included in the multidisciplinary teams of the National Health Service departments that treat patients with cancer."

It's great news that nutrition is finally being discussed as a way to improve patient health, but I wonder whether the government will have the resources to implement these motions and whether nutritionists will actually be involved in the process.
