Castel d'Azzano – A violent explosion devastated a country farmhouse in the municipality of Castel d'Azzano, in the Verona area, at dawn, killing three Carabinieri officers and injuring at least fifteen people, including police officers and civilians.
The incident occurred during a forced eviction of an illegally occupied rural property. According to initial reports, the Carabinieri were searching and securing the property when, suddenly, a powerful explosion occurred, causing the entire two-story building to collapse, engulfing the workers.
Firefighters, several ambulances, and canine units immediately rushed to the scene to search for the missing among the rubble. Rescue operations continued for hours, while the area was cordoned off and placed under lockdown.
Two people arrested
Investigative sources report that two people – a man and a woman – have been arrested in connection with the explosion.

According to an initial hypothesis, the woman intentionally triggered the explosion, but investigators are maintaining the utmost confidentiality regarding the details and motives. The Verona Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation into massacre and attempted attack on public officials, entrusting the investigation to the Carabinieri of the provincial command and the Scientific Investigations Unit (RIS).
