Viterbo – Professional heists, gloves and masks to avoid leaving any traces, but a fingerprint and some biological traces nailed them. After over a year of investigation, the Viterbo Flying Squad, in collaboration with the Naples Flying Squad, has closed the loop on the two daring thefts of medicines that occurred in 2023 from the Santa Rosa Hospital pharmacy, for a total haul of approximately €500.000. The latest arrest is that of a 54-year-old from Naples, believed to be one of the perpetrators of the two criminal acts.
The two "twin" shots at the hospital
The gang struck methodically and precisely on two separate occasions: the night of August 3, 2023, and then the night of September 8, 2023. The unknown individuals, wearing masks, gloves, and hats to avoid being recognized and leaving behind evidence, entered the hospital pharmacy, stealing highly valuable, specialized medications. The first heist netted €273.000, while the second, €221.000.
The turning point in the investigation: the gang's mistake
Initially, the Viterbo Flying Squad investigations had no objective evidence to link the two teams to the same perpetrators.

The first arrest and the closing of the circle
The investigation, coordinated by the Prosecutor's Office, led to the identification of the alleged members of the gang. On April 4th, the first man, a 57-year-old, was arrested, accused of being a member of the group. The investigation was definitively closed two days ago with the arrest of the 54-year-old Neapolitan, considered by investigators to be one of the perpetrators of the two robberies.
The operation demonstrates the effectiveness of collaboration between the Flying Squads of various cities and the crucial work of the Forensic Police, which managed to find the needle in the haystack in two crime scenes that were apparently "clean" by experienced and organized criminals.
