Frignano (Caserta) – An area of approximately 13 thousand square metres, transformed into a real illegal landfill, was seized this morning by the Carabinieri of the Frignano Station in collaboration with the Arpac technicians of Caserta and the staff of the Municipal Technical Office. The site, located on Via Massimo D'Azeglio, in the Popone area, was overflowing with various types of hazardous waste, much of it potentially hazardous.
During the joint inspection, oily materials, vehicle mechanical parts, construction residues, and scrap metal were found, all abandoned without any form of control or protection. The area, clearly in a state of disrepair, was found to be owned by a 77-year-old man, who had been charged at large with illegal waste management and uncontrolled storage of hazardous substances, in violation of the Consolidated Environmental Act.
The entire area has been placed under criminal seizure, while samples of the materials found will be analyzed by ARPAC to determine their composition and actual level of danger. The judicial and administrative authorities have been informed of the outcome of the operation, which is part of a broader environmental control plan initiated by the Carabinieri in the Caserta area to combat crimes related to illegal waste disposal.

It's incredible how certain places can become landfills without anyone noticing. I wonder how an area of 13 square meters can be abandoned like this. I hope the authorities take severe measures.
