CASERTA – Moments of terror erupted in a juvenile detention center in Portico di Caserta. A 17-year-old Egyptian boy kidnapped and beat a fellow Egyptian boy, repeatedly kicking and punching him inside a room.
After the attack, the young man fled, seeking refuge in another facility in the Caserta area. Thanks to quick action by the Carabinieri, the 17-year-old was located and arrested despite his attempts to elude law enforcement. He is now being held at the Naples First Reception Center.
The charges against him are serious: kidnapping, resisting a public official, and assault. The incident has highlighted the management of communities for minors and the need to ensure the safety of the children hosted there, who are often vulnerable and in fragile situations.
