Naples – The tragic incident, sadly familiar in the Neapolitan news, unfolded on a Saturday morning, staining the eastern suburbs with blood. A 26-year-old man arrived unconscious at the emergency room of the Ospedale del Mare, rushed to the hospital after being hit by multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite the desperate efforts of the medical staff, the young man died shortly after arrival.
The State Police were called around 12:30 PM, as is standard procedure when a seriously injured person arrives. The 26-year-old had injuries consistent with a real attack.
According to an initial, fragmentary reconstruction of the facts, the ambush took place shortly before in Via Suor Maria della Passione Beata.
Investigators are currently ruling out any possibility: from a settling of scores in the murky world of drug dealing, to a Camorra-related ambush, to a degenerate argument.
Specialists from the Naples Flying Squad and officers from the Office of General Prevention and Public Rescue arrived at the scene of the murder, and subsequently at the hospital.
The investigation is being jointly entrusted to the two units, which are now combing the area of the shooting for spent shell casings, witnesses and, above all, images recorded by any surveillance cameras.
The young man's body was seized and made available to the judicial authorities for an autopsy, which will be able to clarify the trajectory of the bullets and confirm the exact cause of death.
