A tempting offer on Facebook Marketplace turned out to be a scam for a citizen of Avellino. A 52-year-old man from the province of Brescia was reported by the Carabinieri of the Solofra Company for fraud after collecting €3.000 without ever delivering the promised forklift.

The story began when the victim, looking for equipment for his work, came across an ad on the popular social network that seemed too good to be true: a forklift at a bargain price. Intrigued by the offer, he proceeded with the payment, but once the money was credited, the seller disappeared.

The Carabinieri of the Solofra Mobile Radio Unit, activated by the complaint, began a series of investigations that led to the identity of the scammer. Thanks to digital traces and further investigations, the 52-year-old was identified and reported to the Avellino Public Prosecutor's Office for fraud.

The incident reminds us of the importance of being cautious when shopping online, especially when it comes to high-value goods and private transactions. Law enforcement officials urge people to be wary of overly favorable offers and to always verify the seller's reliability before making any advance payments.
