Afragola – A dawn raid led to the arrest of 10 people believed to be responsible for the ambush a month ago on Via Sportiglione, a full-blown shooting at a bar on the outskirts of Afragola.

The joint operation of Police State Police and Carabinieri of the Casoria Company have shed light on one of the most violent pages of the recent Camorra war that is bloodied the city.

The arrests were made in the hot zone of the so-called Parco Sant'Antonio, a long-standing scene of armed clashes for control of the territory. The ten arrested, all linked to the "Nobile" criminal faction, are accused of planning and executing the pistol and machine gun attack on the bar on Via Sportiglione.

An assault that, in the following 24 hours, triggered a spiral of violence with two further armed retaliations, for a total of approximately 40 shots fired in the streets of the city.

The ambush: rain of lead and terror

The reconstruction of the attack, which occurred shortly before midnight a month ago, paints a picture of unprecedented violence. A commando of armed men opened fire outside the club, killing three young men: Nicola Bassolino, 18, and two 28-year-olds, Antonio Patriciello and Federico Moccia.

All three, with no criminal records, were hospitalized in serious condition: two at the Cardarelli Hospital in Naples and one at the Frattamaggiore Hospital. At the scene, investigators from the Castello di Cisterna unit found 15 shell casings. The investigation immediately pointed to a feud over drug dealing as the primary motive.

The Criminal Picture: The Fight for the Moccia Legacy

This morning's operation isn't just a response to a single crime, but a blow to the heart of the reconfiguration of Afragola's criminal organization. Parco Sant'Antonio is, in fact, a "crater" still open since the fall of the Moccia clan.

In that power vacuum, smaller gangs like the “Nobile” are fighting each other relentlessly to occupy the free spaces, in a struggle that manifests itself with gunshots at parked cars and armed clashes in broad daylight.
