Camorra, Lady Sibillo remains free: the Court rejects the revocation

The First Criminal Section of Naples rejects the request to execute Anna Ingenito, mother of Emanuele Sibillo. Wiretaps and raids reveal the female rise, suspicions of "betrayal," and the feud with the Mazzarella family in the heart of the Decumani.

The Collegiate Court of Naples (First Criminal Section) rejected the Prosecutor's Office's request to revoke the suspended sentence of Anna Ingenito, born in 1971, requesting its execution based on two final convictions for crimes in 2017, one of which was aggravated by mafia-related practices.

The judges accepted the defense argument of attorney Rolando Iorio, excluding one of the two enforcement orders from the calculation required for revocation, thus denying the request and allowing Ingenito, known within the clan ecosystem as Lady Sibillo, to remain at liberty.

The women of the clan

Anti-mafia investigations have documented a brief period of female leadership within the Sibillo orbit, which exploded after the arrests of the last "babyras" and the power vacuum in the Decumani, with figures such as Maria Sabatelli "Miriana", Assunta Manzo, Carmela Bruna Matteo, and Annunziata (Nunzia) Ingenito at the center of decision-making and cash flow dynamics.

In a conversation intercepted on May 8, 2019, the four discuss the group's economic crisis, the Mazzarellas' pressure on the racket, and the fallout from the arrests, painting a picture of the daily management of the territory and the power relations typical of the "paranze."

The rift with the Mazzarellas

The DDA places the conflict within the historical dispute between the Sibillo area and the Mazzarella-Buonerba front for Forcella, Maddalena, Via dei Tribunali, and the Decumani axis, involving raids, ambushes, and a "buying campaign" of qualified pawns to consolidate control of extortion.

Arrests and precautionary measures in multiple tranches have hit the "new Sibillo dome," framing Sabatelli among the leading promoters and demonstrating how the female component held the reins, consensus, and logistics during the phases of fugitive status, incarceration, and reorganization.

The precedent: the parable ES17

The killing of Emanuele Sibillo in 2015, at the height of the war for the squares of the historic center, marked the decline of the charisma of "ES17" and a subsequent decline towards more fragmented structures, accelerating the use of female leaders to oversee relationships, extortion, and drug dealing channels.

The chronology of operations and conflicts with the Buonerba-Mazzarella front, already documented in investigations and news reports, remains the backdrop against which to interpret both the judicial decision on Anna Ingenito and the internal rifts.

The court's decision seems fair, but it's strange how women play such a prominent role in these clans. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. The mafia is always a complex issue to address.
