Caserta – The Carabinieri (Italian Carabinieri) continue their relentless efforts to combat environmental crimes in the Caserta area. In the last few hours, the Marcianise and Gricignano d'Aversa stations have completed two separate operations, resulting in the filing of charges against four people and the seizure of a truck loaded with waste.
In Capodrise, Marcianise police stopped a 54-year-old local man driving a Piaggio Ape Car modified to transport waste materials.

In Gricignano d'Aversa, the Carabinieri, along with the Municipal Police, have reported three women aged 41, 39, and 20, members of the itinerant "camminanti" community of Noto. According to investigations, they dumped approximately 12 cubic meters of solid urban waste—equivalent to 5 tons—on a thirty-meter-long stretch of land, next to the road where they had parked their caravans. The area, reduced to an open-air landfill, has been reported to the Technical Office of the Municipality of Gricignano d'Aversa, which will oversee the removal and disposal of the waste. The investigation is ongoing to determine any further responsibilities.

I agree that combating littering is essential, but raising community awareness is also crucial. Only by educating people can we truly make a long-term difference.
It's important for authorities to conduct more frequent checks on these environmental violations to prevent similar situations. People should be more responsible in disposing of waste properly.
