Castel Volturno – A quiet morning of checks in the area turned into an operation with unexpected consequences for the Carabinieri of the Castel Volturno station. During a targeted operation to combat drug-related crimes, officers reported a 19-year-old local man for possession of false documents, a counterfeit municipal police badge, and a significant quantity of marijuana.
The young man, already known to law enforcement, was stopped on Viale Livenza for a routine check. His suspicious behavior and the discovery of a small quantity of narcotics prompted the Carabinieri to conduct a personal, home, and vehicle search.
Inside the home, a metal plaque bearing the words "Municipal Police" was found, along with a stolen Mortuary Police service card from a municipality in the Naples area registered to another person, a counterfeit 50 euro note, 42 homemade cigarettes containing tobacco and marijuana fragments weighing a total of almost 40 grams, and a glass jar containing another 45 grams of marijuana.
The search also included a Mercedes with British plates used by the boy, where a British driving license and residence permit were found, both falsified and registered to another person, but bearing his photo. All materials were seized and handed over to the Crime Evidence Office.
The 19-year-old was reported to the Judicial Authorities for spending and introducing counterfeit currency, material forgery committed by a private individual, possession of false documents, possession of counterfeit distinctive signs, and receiving stolen goods. For the small quantity of narcotics found, believed to be intended for personal use, an administrative report was also issued to the Prefecture pursuant to Article 75 of Presidential Decree 309/90.
Investigations are continuing to trace the documents' origins and verify any links to incidents of counterfeiting or fraud reported in the area.
