The D'Alessandro clan's common fund was managed by a trusted person of boss Pasquale D'Alessandro, who was arrested this morning along with 10 others by police in an anti-Camorra raid ordered by the Naples Anti-Mafia Directorate. A total of 11 people are under investigation.
The investigation also involves Giuseppe Oscurato, a convicted felon, a relative of city councilor Gennaro Oscurato, elected on the Stabia Rialzati civic list in 2024 and supporting current mayor Luigi Vicinanza. Among those arrested is Paolo Carolei, also released in 2022, like Pasquale D'Alessandro, and a leading member of the clan that controlled the clan's illicit business in the Moscarella district.
Also in jail are Massimo Mirano, from the notorious "maccaroni" family in the Cicerone neighborhood. Also in jail are Luigi Staiano, Pasquale D'Alessandro's nephew, his sister's son, and his cousin Giovanni D'Alessandro, known as Giovannone. And then there's Biagio Maiello, the clan's young tax collector.
Petronilla Schettino, wife of Michele Abbruzzese, the "paciariello," cousin of the late godfather Michele D'Alessandro, also ended up in prison.
Pasquale D'Alessandro, 54, who, after being released in 2023, along with his brothers in prison, had assumed leadership of the clan.
The various charges include mafia-type criminal association, extortion, attempted extortion, and drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, aggravated crimes committed to facilitate the D'Alessandro clan. The State Police and the Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA, prosecutor Giuseppe Cimmarotta) documented several extortion incidents against construction contractors. The money flowed into a common fund and was also used to provide support to inmates and the families of incarcerated members. The clan also identified several cleaning companies holding contracts at the San Leonardo hospital and at the Juve Stabia football club.

People who spend their days begging shopkeepers for protection money, drug trafficking, but what kind of life do they lead?
This article shows how complex and challenging the Camorra situation is. Many names are involved, and the D'Alessandro clan appears to have significant influence. I hope justice is served.
