Bipartisan solidarity has overwhelmed Caterina Sestile, former Giugliano city councilor, the victim of a quick robbery yesterday morning. After withdrawing cash from an ATM in Piazza Annunziata, she was followed, surprised from behind, and forced to hand over the money at gunpoint.

A lightning-fast raid, invisible to passersby: the loot? Approximately €1500, stolen by an unknown young man who fled. Using images from public and private security cameras in the area, investigators are confident they'll soon identify the perpetrator.

Meanwhile, the entire city is seething with indignation: a unanimous chorus of support for the victim comes from all political factions, but also a shared urgency—more police forces on the ground and enhanced video surveillance to stem the insecurity strangling Giugliano.

Bitter and wounded to the core, Sestile broke her silence with a Facebook post that moved and inspired thousands of followers to reflect: "I don't usually make these posts," she wrote, "but today I'm so bitter. A city out of control. I hope the money you took is at least enough to buy you a little dignity. Or, if you really can't find it at the pharmacy, maybe some medicine to heal the emptiness that drove you to steal. It must be hard to live so poor inside."

Words that, beyond personal pain, spark a debate on degradation and desperation, transforming a robbery into a collective cry for the redemption of a community.

It's incredible how people can get to this point; stealing is an act of cowardice. I hope those responsible are caught soon. Safety must be a priority for our city; we can no longer tolerate these incidents.

I agree with you, Barbara, but there's also a need for help for those living in difficult situations. I don't condone theft, but it's important to understand the motivations behind these actions.
