Milan  The Carabinieri have put an end to the fugitive status of Vincenzo Petranovic, 31, considered a prominent figure and contact in the Milan area for the feared Fezza-De Vivo clan from Pagani, as the adopted son of boss Tommaso Fezza. The arrest took place in Baranzate, in the Milan hinterland, where he was hiding.

Petranovic was wanted pursuant to two separate arrest warrants issued by Campanian judicial authorities. The first, from the Salerno investigating judge, concerns him for the crime of mafia association, confirming his close ties to the clan known for its illicit activities ranging from drug trafficking to extortion.

The second, more serious, case concerns an attempted murder that occurred on July 30th in Castellammare, which was being investigated by the Torre Annunziata investigating judge. The young victim was driving when four shots were fired into his car. He managed to escape, but crashed into a parked car.

At that point, three men reached him and attacked him with kicks, punches, and a baseball bat. The investigation into the attempted murder, entrusted to the Castellammare police station and coordinated by the Torre Annunziata prosecutor's office, led on October 25th to the preliminary investigations judge issuing a pretrial detention order against three people, two of whom were arrested at the end of last month.

The Carabinieri operation closed the loop on a figure considered crucial to the clan's criminal dynamics, who had sought refuge in the Milan area, far from his hometown, likely to escape investigative pressure. His tracking and arrest underscores law enforcement's focus on countering the penetration of mafia clans beyond their traditional territories.

The arrest of this Petranovic is an important fact for security in Milan, but I wonder if stopping the gangs is really enough to solve the mafia problems in our country, the investigations are complicated.
