Naples - A wild ride in a stolen car ended in a spectacular crash into a railing in Massa di Somma, near Naples. The incident led to the arrest of a 19-year-old man on charges of theft and resisting arrest.
The incident began when a patrol car from the Torre del Greco Carabinieri mobile radio unit, passing through the municipality of San Sebastiano al Vesuvio, encountered a Smart ForFour.
The military's attention was immediately captured: the model, license plate, and color of the small car perfectly matched the search warrant issued shortly before by the operations center, relating to a recently stolen vehicle.
The escape attempt and the crash
At the sight of the flashing lights and siren, the young driver did not stop, but instead stepped on the accelerator, starting a brief but frantic chase.
The escape ended abruptly on Corso Pirandello, in the neighboring municipality of Massa di Somma. Here, the 19-year-old lost control of the car, which, now out of control, crashed violently into a sturdy steel railing. Miraculously, the young man was unharmed on impact.
Immediately stopped by the Carabinieri who had been tailing him, the 19-year-old was arrested. Procedures are underway to return the Smart ForFour to its rightful owner.

Yes, I also think there's a need for greater prevention of these crimes. The law must be strict to prevent similar incidents from happening again in the future.
Indeed, it's worrying to see young people putting themselves in situations like this. Road safety is important, and these incidents don't help build trust in the community.
The situation is truly strange, such a young man involved in a car race with a stolen car. I hope the authorities do their duty and the victim gets his car back. It's disturbing.
