Naples - The extraordinary checks implemented by the Naples Police Headquarters to curb drug trafficking and illegal weapons possession in the city's most sensitive neighborhoods continue unabated.
Yesterday morning, officers from the Vicaria-Mercato Police Station arrested a 62-year-old man, originally from Morocco and with a criminal record, for illegal possession of narcotics and resisting arrest.
During a patrol in the Porta Capuana area, officers stopped the man at his home. Upon seeing the officers, the suspect reacted violently and aggressively, before being subdued with difficulty. The search confirmed their suspicions: he was concealing three packages of hashish, weighing approximately 20 grams in total.
A subsequent search of the apartment uncovered further significant items: 30 psychotropic medication tablets, €980 in cash divided into various denominations, precision scales, packaging materials, and a knife with a narcotic-tipped blade. All the material was seized.
The man was arrested and handed over to the judicial authorities. State Police operations in the Porta Capuana area will continue in the coming days as part of the strategy to prevent and combat drug trafficking.
